Eleven teams recently participated in the 7th annual Parke County Golf Classic sponsored by
the Parke County Chamber of Commerce at the Parke County Golf Club at Rockville. The
winning team came from the Parke County Community Foundation with a 9 under par team score
of 62. Members of the winning team included: Brad Bumgardner, Tim Smith, Bill Todd and John
Thomas. The team was awarded four donated passes to the Rocky Ridge Golf Course near
Darlington that were arranged by Overpeck Gas Company.
The Old National Bank team of C.V. and Debbie Skelton, Russ Campbell and Tim Clary
were the runner-ups with an 8 under score of 63. Tied for third place with 7 under scores of 64
were the team of Dale Warnick, Leonard Orr, Jay Roach and Bruce Swingle from Dale Warnick
Chevrolet and the Fifth Third Bank team of Joe Martin, Scott Monts, Jerry Monts and Tom
Zimmerman. Other teams participating in the scramble format event were from Crossroads
Communications (WAXI), First Financial Bank, Child Adult Resource Services (C.A.R.S.),
Ferguson Chiropractic Center, G & M Ace Hardware, Jack & Jacks Motors and the Chamber of
Commerce.
Winners of the putting contest and receiving a cash award were Tom Zimmerman with the Fifth
Third Bank team and Bruce Swingle from the Dale Warnick team. The putting winners generously
donated half of their award back to the Chamber. Other putting contest finalists were: Marvin
Stewart, Tim Clary, Alex Milligan, Doug Edge, Tim Smith and Pat Fahey.
Additional contest winners were: Longest Drive - Dan Parent won a pass for two provided by
the Turkey Run Golf Club; Closest to the Pin - Alan Waldridge won a dinner for two provided
by the Turkey Run Inn and Brad Buchanan won the Longest Putt competition and was awarded a
one year newspaper subscription provided by The Parke County Sentinel.

car award which Joe Martin came the closest to winning with his ball hitting less than a foot
from the pin. Jim Bosley with First Financial Bank donated the Callaway golf balls for the
“hit the green” winners.

Kristy and Vickie’s Country Home Catering served the noon luncheon and Sellers Sign Art
provided the signage for the team photos.
